Matthew Swan

Creative Director

Matthew is the Creative Director, Founder of the At the Root Project and Co-Founder of At the Root Arts CIC.

Matthew founded the At the Root project in November 2015 to create spaces for young people to grow in confidence, nurture their talent and to fully be themselves. The ethos and ambition of At the Root has grown so much since then. 

He is a creative producer, director and playwright based in West Lothian. He enjoys creating and writing plays for all ages and putting them together through collaborating and co-creating. Matthew also enjoys the community engagement and creative learning side of the organisation where we creates programmes to educate, empower and entertain children, young people and adults.

Becca Lamont

Community Engagement & Projects

Becca is the Community Engagement & Projects Director for At the Root Arts CIC.

Becca came onboard with the At the Root project in 2016 as a workshop leader to promote creativity, explore theatre and to help bring positivity to the lives of our young people.

Becca is a trained drama therapist, drama practitioner and theatre maker. Her focus within At the Root Arts CIC is to promote positive mental wellbeing, create bespoke projects for different communities and to be involved in the general running of the organisation.

Martine Browne

Training, Volunteers & Staffing

Martine is the Training, Volunteer & Staffing Director for At the Root Arts CIC.

Martine came onboard with the At the Root project in 2022 as a workshop leader to promote creativity, explore theatre and to help bring positivity to the lives of our young people.

Martine is a trained performing artist with years of experience in facilitating workshops, performing and hosting events for all ages. Within At the Root Arts CIC, Martine will be looking at training programmes, volunteering and the staffing.
